I know it’s not forever, but I am so excited about this Saturday’s warm weather forecast. And the Super Bowl. My beau is a big 49ers fan so he’s thrilled about the matchup. I’m thrilled, as always, to have something to celebrate and an excuse to make a themed menu. I realized this week that we don’t have any major plans during February. Meeting up with friends here and there on a Sunday afternoon and celebrating the Super Bowl, sure, but nothing BIG. No travel or parties on the calendar. Considering January and March are the exact opposite, it’s nice.

This weekend we went to the Museum of Natural History with friends and realized we have kind of a rotation when it comes to weekend activities (especially during the winter when we need things to do indoors). We alternate between some museum, the library, bookstore and pair with lunch. That’ll usually take us from wakeup to naptime no problem. As our friend put it: “When they’re this age, it’s all about running down the clock.” Our visit to the Museum of Natural History was particularly fun because we got to check out “Invisible Worlds,” a new immersive experience. The loop is about 12 minutes and it takes you under the sea and onto a satellite (among other things) in a 360 laser-filled room. It made me a smidge dizzy, but it was very cool and the kids loved running around, in awe of the lights. Highly recommend.

Blue cheese olives always take dirty tinis to the next level. We spent Friday night at home on the couch with a meat and cheese plate followed by pizza. We paired the meal with a documentary (“The Greatest Night in Pop,” about the making of “We Are The World” – fascinating!) and having a focus (the movie), combined with the blue cheese olives my beau brought home for me made a night on the couch feel special.

We know that my hyperfixation lunch lately has been variations of the tuna nori wrap. When I ran out of full size nori, I decided to substitute with the snack size and eat a deconstructed version. This one had tuna mixed with mayo and everything bagel seasoning + TJ’s pickled olive salad + carrots (which balanced out the saltiness of the olives and seasoning with their sweetness) + scallions. Even by myself, it was fun to eat lunch this way. Also fun: the arrangement of three bunches of carnations in various shades of deep pink/red that are so perfect for Valentine’s Day.
